Walter, Guy Ainsworth

  • Born 1874. Died 1970. Son of Nelson Walter & Josie Ainsworth. Grandson of Jacob who came to America in 1825. Great grandson of Nelson W.Clark.

  • Guy was in business with his father Nelson. They had a store, Walter & Walter until 1915 on the site of 9 S. Main. In 1903, a Pontiac Gazette article he was in the drug business with Charles M. Smith. He was also part owner of a wholesale grocery business in Pontiac, Whitfield, Walter & Dawson. Later he reportedly bought the businesses of Floren Hammond & E. A. Urch, opening a general store 4 S. Main St, Clarkston, manager, Percy Craven. Guy was for a time president of the Clarkston State Bank and helped to organize programs which took place in the "Opera Hall" on the second floor of the Clarkston Building Association/Maccabee Temple Building, 2,4,6 S.
