  • Wife of Washington, Lucy was born in 1818 in N.Y.. Their residence was on the site of 28 S. Main. According to 1860 Clarkston census records Lucy ran a boarding house then. Listed as residents were Harvey Clark, a 19 year old clerk and Phebe Clark, a 16 year old schoolteacher. Both were born in Michigan. According to the same records Matilda Walter, a 23 year old domestic born in N.Y.; Frances Lamb, a 9 year old, born in Michigan; Alpheus Handricks, a 26 year old clerk born in Ohio; Alphonzo Anderson, a 26 year old cooper born in Ohio and "---Evevans", a 19 year old harnessmaker born in Ohio also occupied the house. The house was moved to 43 E. Washington St. to make way for the construction of a gas station.
