  • Church owned a "furnace", 1855-1860, on what is now the site of 29 E. Washington. In 1860 he moved the business, listed as a carding mill & cloth dressing operation, to the s. w. corner of S. Main & Depot Rd. According to Clarkston census records of that year William H.l Shirts, a 35 year old furnaceman who was born in N.J. resided with the Church family. Tax records also listed a "dwelling house" at that location. Enos served as Township Supervisor in 1853 & 1856, Clerk in 1854 & Justice of the Peace in 1849, 1856, & 1863.
